JEDI is launching Technology Challenges to push the frontiers of innovation, invent the next big thing, and provide European economies & societies with a decisive competitive advantage, ensure economic prosperity, sustainability and democratic resilience.
Being part of the Joint European Disruptive Initiative implies adhering to the following 7 key principles:
JEDI’s mission is to push the frontiers of innovation, to invent the next big thing, and to provide European economies & societies with a decisive competitive advantage that will ensure economic prosperity, sustainability and democratic resilience. To execute on its mission, JEDI launches Technology Grand Challenges focused on disruptive innovations.
We believe on deep humanistic and democratic values, and we are committed to ensure that these values are served by technology. As such, we consider that technology is at the core of our societies, of geopolitics, of the future of democratic systems and we are, therefore, passionate about emerging technologies and their capabilities to have a positive, ‘technology-for-good’ impact on the world.
We focus on 5 major societal missions (very close to the UN sustainable development goals): environment, healthcare, human-centric digital, education and new frontiers (oceans & space) and on those technologies that can have a major societal impact, far away from technology for technology’s sake. Our Grand Challenges focus on these 5 missions.
We have the deep conviction that complex and exponential challenges of our times will only be solved if we have the strategic foresight and creativity to act now for the future and to do so with an inter interdisciplinary approach combining all hard and social sciences but, more importantly, by pulling together the collective goodwill and the best minds with deep expertise and passion on our core missions.
We believe that Civil Society and the Technology and Science ecosystems have the boldness and agility to ensure Europe remains capable of charting a desirable course for mankind as a whole.
We believe in the need to be “all in” on JEDI’s mission and expect all those involved in JEDI to be committed to support these principles as much as they can in their professional and personal capabilities, to contribute to the thought leadership and technology advancements, to facilitate connections to potential strategic partners, to experts and to government interlocutors, and to mention this in their public profiles, when they speak on innovation topics, and to share relevant information about JEDI on social media networks.
The Joint European Disruptive Initiative is a common-good, non-profit organisation powered by the Civil Society and the Technology and Science ecosystems whose purpose is to bring Europe as a leader in strategic technologies.
At the core of JEDI’s work is interdisciplinarity and the deep conviction that complex and growing challenges of our times will only be solved through cooperation expertise and passion for strategic foresight and creativity, throughout all hard and social science.
